The Growth Mindset

Here to help to remove the obstacles that prevent you to be the person you want to be

Hello, and welcome to my website. My name is Marianna Trezza and I am a BACP accredited therapist with years of experience in providing face-to-face, online or walk & talk counselling, hypnotherapy & life coaching in Kentish Town, Camden Town, Gospel Oak. I work with both adults and young people who are going through a wide range of issues.

About me

I help you to find and use your talents and the resilience to overcome your obstacles to step in the world in a confident, vibrant and meaningful way to reach your goals.

I give you a safe, confidential, friendly environment where you can freely explore and overcome whatever might be troubling you. We will look at your issues through a tailored and psychosomatic lens, learning how problems like depression and anxiety are not just psychological but something we actively hold in our bodies. I use a specific combination of talking therapy, hypnotherapy and EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) to help you to develop the clarity about the person you want to be and the self-confidence to make the changes needed to become it.

I always work from an intersectional, LGBTQIA, affirmative standpoint, with sessions available in Italian, Neapolitan, and English. I offer sessions online, face-to-face or in a walk & talk setting.

I offer a chance to reflect on the difficulties or problems you are experiencing in a safe and confidential environment, with someone from outside your day-to-day life. Together we can explore your situation in a way that leads to fresh perspectives - and perhaps a new understanding of yourself. Counselling isn’t about giving you solutions or advice, but empowering you to make your own changes.

I work with people from all walks of life and backgrounds, coming to me with a diverse range of problems. As a fully-qualified counsellor I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and abide by their code of ethics.

Counselling

As an integrative humanistic counsellor, I work with you in an open, down-to-earth manner, listening closely to the issues you bring to therapy and supporting you to use your resilience to develop the solutions that help you reach your unique potential. Instead of telling you what to do, I act as your confidential specialist companion, creating the space you need to not just address specific issues but feel more in tune with your mind and body as a whole.

Alongside working from my private practice and online, I also offer ‘walk and talk’ counselling in the beautiful setting of Hampstead Heath – a powerful way to explore our connection with all other forms of life and gain important perspectives on difficult issues.

For more information, take a look at my Counselling page.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a powerful form of healing where you allow me to facilitate you in a trance state of awareness.

This opens up your subconscious mind, enabling you to discover your innate ability to make the changes you want in life, such as addressing addictions, managing PTSD and weight, and so many other areas. Your inner potential to heal and grow has always been there and hypnotherapy bring you into a more connected, relaxed state of being. You will then be more confident to make more meaningful change.

Initial Consultation

The first meeting is all about getting to know each other. Our relationship is key to the therapy working. I will want to get to know what has brought you to therapy at this time in your life and also tell you a bit about my style as a therapist.

The most important factor is that you feel comfortable enough with me to look at uncomfortable feelings and thoughts. So always listen to your gut! If you would like to go ahead with more sessions, we will agree on a time and location for our next meeting that suits you.

Pricing & Availability

Counselling and hypnotherapy sessions last 50 minutes and cost £80. The first session, due to the initial assessment process, takes a bit longer, but pricing remains the same.

FAQs

Can I talk to you before booking my first counselling or hypnotherapy session?

Of course! If you have any questions before booking your first counselling or hypnotherapy session, I will happily answer these through email or over the phone. You can arrange an initial session without any obligation to continue by filling out the enquiry form. Book a free 20-minute session.

How many counselling sessions do I need?

If you have never experienced counselling before, I recommend starting with a series of six sessions, as this gives us a good amount of time to truly explore what’s troubling you and come up with a personalized plan for moving forward. You can, of course, end sooner than that if you would like to. After the sixth counselling session, we will look at what has been achieved and decide what the next steps should be. There is no pressure on you to continue; how long you see me is completely up to you.

How many hypnotherapy sessions do I need?

For some specific issues (performance anxiety about an exam, for example), it may be that you only need one hypnotherapy session. Other issues – in particular those linked to trauma – take longer to deal with, and as a result, will require several sessions. This could be done in conjunction with counselling. Once again, it depends on how you feel and the nature of your particular problem.

How often should I have counselling sessions?

Generally, I see clients every week. On the other hand, when we have worked for a while, you may only need to see me once every two weeks, then every month. And as you feel better and better, we will discuss how to end it therapeutically. I will always look to work around your availability and needs.

Is counselling confidential?

By BACP guidelines, all information exchanged during counselling is strictly confidential. This is a safe space where you can explore difficult emotions and say what’s on your mind with the assurance of knowing that whatever you say in the session won’t be disclosed to anyone.

What if I cannot make a counselling or hypnotherapy appointment?

Once your first counselling or hypnotherapy appointment has been booked, I require at least one week's notice if you decide to cancel your booked counselling or hypnotherapy meeting, otherwise, you will still have to pay the full fee. If on rare occasions, I need to cancel, I would let you know with as much notice but of course, you do not need to pay the fee.

If you cannot help, could you refer me?

If I feel like I can’t give the right kind of help for the problems you are going through, I will happily refer you to someone else who is better equipped to meet your individual needs.

“Before I started the counselling I was worried about telling people about my problems. I was put completely at ease. I did not think it would help me. But I was wrong....Marianna's understanding helped me talk things through, letting me work out myself but being there for me if I needed her. I could tell her lots of things and not be judged. It helped me so much, I have only got great praise for Marianna.”

Sandra, London client

“I just wanted to thank you for all you done for me, I really appreciate the time and interest you have invested and hope you realise what a difference this has made to my life.”

Jasmin, London Counselling client

“Thank you for the time, patience, intelligence, generosity, challenging nature, empathy. Thanks above all for being you.”

Chris, London Counselling client

“I entitled my experience of going to therapy as "Chords of Therapy", why you may ask? Well, simply when all the right chords were struck it was like music to my wellbeing, the mind, the heart, the soul. It was like receiving an adrenalin shot into the psyche. The metaphoric fog lifted and vision was restored.”
